Discover the incredible oasis of Wadi Shab - one of the last places in Oman where you can chill in fresh blue water surrounded by mountains. Enjoy a rewarding full-day experience as you explore this spectacular waterfall in a cave.
Start the tour with pick up from your hotel in Muscat. Hop into an air-conditioned vehicle and set off on a 2-hour scenic drive through the otherworldly landscapes of Oman. Along the route, stop at a local coffee shop to try an energizing Omani tea. When you arrive at your destination, hidden away in the canyon of the dry river Wadi-Shab, take a very quick boat ride to the other side of the bank. From here, embark on your 40-minute hike. During the walk, experience the awesome power of nature which has forged the rock formations of this impressive canyon.
On the way back, stop to see a beautiful lake located in the Bimmah Sinkhole. Finally, return to the vehicle and begin the drive back to Muscat where you will be dropped off at your hotel.

What To Expect
Wadi Shab
Wadi Shab, is a very popular wadi located in the Al Sharqiyah Region in Oman. It is a very popular outdoor attraction for both locals and expats, and people come here for the nature, to swim in the fresh water pools or just to have a barbecue. The main attraction of the wadi is the water fall in the cave, which you can reach after a roughly 40 mins hike and swimming in 2-3 pools. I really love coming to this wadi as it is not very far from Muscat, is easily accessible even with a saloon car and because the pools are always full with clear blue water!

Bimmah Sinkhole
Bimmah Sinkhole is a water-filled depression, structurally a sinkhole, in the limestone of eastern Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. A lake of turquoise waters, it is 50 m by 70 m wide and approximately 20 m deep. It is only about 600 m away from the sea, between the coastal towns of Ḑibāb and Bimmah. The sinkhole was formed by a collapse of the surface layer due to dissolution of the underlying limestone.[ However, locals believe that it was created by a meteorite, ‘Hawaiyat Najm’, which translates to ‘The Falling Star’ in Arabic, and hence the name.[3]
To preserve the sinkhole, the local municipality developed a park, Hawiyat Najm Park (Haweat Najm Park), around it, along with a stairway leading down to the lake

Amazing Wadi with Great Guide
Nicole_P, 08-01-2023
Awesome experience, super well organized and fun. Happy we had a guide to know where to go and get tips along the way. Everything was ready for us to have lunch right after the hike, and there were ice cream treats and plenty of water and just really great feeling of being taken care of. The wadi is amazing and would highly suggest going with this group!
I enjoyed the natural atmosphere, especially the natural pools and swimming in them, it was a special experience

Must do in Muscat

This is an absolute must in Muscat! I only had 30 hours in the country and I am so glad I did the Wadi Shab and Bimmah sinkhole tour. Abdullah was an awesome guide and looked after us the whole way with excellent communication throughout. There’s definitely more swimming than hiking and it really is recommended to wear river shoes but can be done barefoot. Hard to describe how beautiful Wadi Shab is but I promise you it’s worth it! And the sinkhole is such an unexpected beauty. Again, photos won’t do it justice!
